Dorothy Simmons
Annual Creative Writing Prize
"Albury High School is honoured to announce the establishment of the Dorothy Simmons Creative Writing Prize. Dorothy Simmons was a talented local writer and a passionate public educator. She taught for many years at Albury High and it was her wish to establish this prize to celebrate creative writing for many years to come.
2022 marks the inaugural year of the prize and all students in Years 7-12 are invited to submit an original narrative piece. Entries will be judged by a local author with First Prize receiving $700, and Highly Commended receiving $300. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students at our school and a significant legacy for a remarkable teacher and writer to leave for young people."
