The second collection of short fiction by multiple award-winning author Dorothy Simmons, Heritage & Other Stories was published posthumously. The importance of words and the worlds they create was something Simmons believed in absolutely, as was the transformative power of stories. This short story collection, which she worked on even as the cancer that would claim her life made it difficult to do so, is an enduring tribute to her lifelong love of words and language.

The following stories have appeared elsewhere: 'Postscript' was published in Blue Nib, 2019; 'This Itch' was published in Blue Nib, 2020; and 'Heritage' was published in Hecate, QP 2022.

Heritage & Other Stories
Heritage & Other Stories deals with social issues that were close to the author's heart, such as the migrant experience: Simmons was secretary of Rural Australians for Refugees. Others explore life's little 'what if' moments. The collection includes an autobiographical sketch.
